Do you write out a script, or do you just have a general idea of what you’re doing and just sort of wing it when you plan out pages? Or something else?
I do a little of both? I have an outline of all the major events and what sequence they’re supposed to happen. I’ll write a little bit of script, maybe for a single scene. I then take that script and thumbnail from there. But as I thumbnail, I’m returning to the script and making edits and adding/removing things.
This way, I can achieve a narrative that I’m sure will work visually. A lot of the time I’ll cut back on the script I wrote when I go in to thumbnail because some of the things I wrote just don’t work well visually. Other times I’ll see something in my thumbnail that I’d like to elaborate on so I’ll go back to the script and write it in to be sure it’ll work with future narrative.
