Mermaids!
IMC 2013 was given a post-class assignment if we wanted it, to try to come up with a unique spin on a mermaid, based on some criteria. I could not pass up the opportunity to draw some merbeasts, of course! Merbeasts with grabby grabby hands.
Cornered: My painting for IMC 2013!
IMC sketch finished for now! I’m headed out to Amherst tomorrow and then hopefully the instructors will tear it to ribbons before I move on to painting it.
Update on my IMC sketch- almost there! I need to flesh out the environment a bit more, and some of the snake-wolf loopies aren’t sitting quite right yet. I’ve moved the little boy at least 3 times since starting this piece, in the thumb he was on his viking-dad’s back, then he used to be behind his back, under the shield, but your eye goes to him much quicker where he is now, and as a result he seems a little more exposed, which makes the storytelling more dramatic.
Getting started on a worked up sketch.
One more quick viking thumbnail
What did I say about Vikings?!
Finally hitting that special twang with some of these Viking sketches.
